The Pandemic of Violence against Women: Global to Local

Sep 23, 2016

Violence against women around the world is so ubiquitous that the United Nations has called it a global pandemic. Join us as we explore its root causes and characteristics with two passionate activists who have dedicated their lives to addressing this pandemic through listening to marginalized women's stories, learning from their experiences and implementing practical solutions.

Dr. Asha El-Karib, based in Khartoum, is a renowned Sudanese feminist leader and Senior Strategic Advisor for the Sudanese Organization for Research and Development.

Amanda Dale, based in Toronto, is a fierce advocate for women's rights locally and nationally as the Executive Director of the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic.

The conversation will be moderated by Rita Morbia, Executive Director, Inter Pares.

This event is presented by Inter Pares, the Ontario Council for International Co-operation, The Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, and the Centre for Social Innovation.

Free admission, and refreshments will be served.

The venue is wheelchair-accessible.
