La Ligue des droits et libertés (League of Rights and Liberties), based in Montreal, is an independent organization that defends and promotes human, social, political, economic, cultural and civil rights.

La Ligue helped create key human rights instruments such as the Charte des droits et libertés de la personne and institutions like the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse. The organization contributes to keeping human rights issues in public debates, minimizing setbacks to the human rights agenda, and mobilizing social movements in defense of human rights issues.
