In recognition this week of the 4th Anniversary of the outbreak of war in Kachin State, northern Burma, Inter Pares is sharing a statement from our counterpart the Kachin Women’s Association (Thailand) (KWAT).

For many years, KWAT has been documenting the situation in Kachin State and raising awareness nationally and internationally, as well as providing primary health care, emergency relief and training women with various skills.

Also included in this brief update is an album of photos taken in displacement camps in Kachin State by Inter Pares staff in January of 2015. There are currently an estimated 220,000 people displaced by conflict in Kachin and northern Shan States.

KWAT's full statement can be read here
