OUR SPEAKERS

Aline Zongo is an agronomist with 18 years of experience in rural development. Based in Burkina Faso, she is the Director of Inades-Formation, a pan-African solidarity network that accompanies marginalized communities in their development initiatives. Aline is also the Burkinabe representative to the Coalition for the Protection of African Genetic Heritage (COPAGEN), a West African network that fights for communities' right to protect their genetic resources.

Diana Bronson joined Food Secure Canada (FSC) as Executive Director in March 2012, and has worked to strengthen FSC as the national voice of the Canadian food movement.  Diana's work has centered on supporting social movements around the world, critically reviewing and educating the public on international trade and investment agreements, looking at the impacts of Canadian mining companies, and assessing the social and environmental impacts of emerging technologies.

Paul Sein Twa is Director and founding member of the Karen Environmental and Social Action Network (KESAN) in Burma. KESAN works alongside local communities in Karen State to ensure sustainable livelihoods by preserving indigenous knowledge, building capacity, and promoting practice and policy change. KESAN advocates for policies that ensure people's participation, ownership, gender equity, and environmental sustainability in development processes taking place in the rural areas of Burma.

Pilar Trujillo is the Executive Director of Project Counselling Service (PCS), Inter Pares’ main counterpart in Latin America. Pilar has been closely involved with social movements in Colombia since the 1970s and with communities in Africa, throughout Latin America, and the Caribbean for more than twenty years. She has worked on various social justice issues, including sustainable development, governance, the construction of citizenship, human rights, and women’s rights.
