2011 Annual General Meeting - Equality. It is so simple, why is it so hard? June 16, 2014 Share Print Canada has witnessed an alarming growth in inequality in recent years. Our guest speaker, Armine Yalnizyan, award-winning Senior Economist at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, social justice activist and writer, spoke eloquently about the Canadian dimensions of inequality. Exploring the implications and difficult truths of this growing divide, Armine led us to a discussion on what we can do about it. We know we can learn so much from the ideas and energy of the people we work with in other countries. So Inter Pares' Nadia Faucher, just back from visiting our counterparts in Peru, inspired us with stories about Peruvian women's courageous struggle for a more just society for all. Armine YalnizyanSenior Economist, Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives Armine Yalnizyan is one of Canada's leading progressive economists. With over 20 years of experience analyzing trends in labour markets, government budgets and social policies, she is an outspoken commentator on trends in inequality. She is a senior economist at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and a regular contributor to the Globe and Mail's on-line business feature, Economy Lab. Watch her presentation.
