Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) counterpart Share Print The Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) promotes environmental justice and advocates with the government for improved environmental laws and policies. BELA assists marginalized people through environmental education and legal assistance, provides training to governmental officials on environmental themes, and uses public interest litigation to ensure government compliance with environmental laws and policies. BELA has addressed issues such as: the ship-breaking industry, industrial pollution, and destruction of agricultural land by the shrimp industry, by the brick-making industry and by housing companies.
