RSS newsreaders are now integrated into the latest versions of popular browsers such as opens in a new browser windowInternet Explorer, opens in a new browser windowFirefox, and opens in a new browser window Safari, but can also be used as stand-alone software, either online or downloaded onto your computer. Each have their own styles and features. Browser-based newsreaders let you catch up with your RSS feed subscriptions from any computer, whereas downloadable applications let you store them on your main computer, in the same way that you either download your e-mail using a desktop-based software such as Outlook or Eudora, or keep it on a Web-based service such as Hotmail or Gmail. Each newsreader will determine how you can subscribe to a RSS feed. For instance, with Internet Explorer, the RSS button Image of Internet Explorer's RSS button will change colour when a RSS feed is detected on any page. Clicking on the button will tell you which feeds are available, which you can then select. To learn more about subscribing, visit the Help section in your chosen software.
