The Borneo Case tells the story of Indigenous people in Malaysia and their allies in defense of their ancestral lands being destroyed by illegal logging. Their investigations reveal how profits from this rainforest destruction have been laundered into a global real estate empire.

The film starts in Montreal where former activist Mutang Urud lives in exile and leads us via Ottawa, London, Basel, Frankfurt, Tokyo and Singapore back to Malaysia. It highlights the need for Canada to establish laws to reveal the true owners of companies and the fallacy that financial crimes have no victims.

The Borneo Case has been shown in 30 countries in cinemas, festivals and other public events, reaching thousands of spectators.

The screening is a collaboration of Inter Pares with Mining Watch, Above Ground, Canadians for Tax Fairness.
