La clinique Mae Tao célèbre ses 30 ans news : Updates June 21, 2019 Share Print Credit: Inter Pares La clinique Mae Tao célèbre aujourd’hui 30 ans de services de santé, d’éducation et de protection… et tellement plus encore! Il y a 30 ans, la Dre Cynthia Maung et quelques collègues ont mis sur pied en Thaïlande une clinique temporaire dans une petite maison en bordure de la frontière avec la Birmanie. Au début, on stérilisait les instruments dans un cuiseur à riz. Peu après, la clinique Mae Tao a commencé à recevoir des fonds du gouvernement canadien par l’entremise d’Inter Pares. Aujourd’hui, la clinique Mae Tao est vouée à la formation – des Birmanes et des Birmans viennent y peaufiner des compétences médicales qui font cruellement défaut chez eux. Plus de 2000 bébés naissent chaque année à la clinique et le personnel fournit des certificats de naissance précieux aux enfants apatrides. La clinique est aussi un pôle d’élaboration des politiques – des fournisseurs de soins de santé s’y réunissent pour planifier l’avenir d’une Birmanie pacifique et démocratique. Inter Pares a le privilège de travailler avec la clinique Mae Tao depuis le début des années 1990. Le personnel de la clinique nous a tant appris – nous espérons que notre collaboration se poursuive pendant des années à venir! Bon anniversaire, CMT!
