Karen Women's Organization (KWO) counterpart Share Print Formed in 1949, the Karen Women's Organization (KWO) has a membership of over 49,000 members including internally displaced women inside Burma, and the refugee camps along the border. KWO is a community-based organization of Karen women working in development and relief that focuses its work on social welfare, encouraging an awareness of women's rights and promoting women's participation in politics.
