In order to build sustainable community-based food security systems, food requirements need to be looked at less in isolation through food aid-style relief programming or micronutrient provision, and more within the wider picture of how food productions systems fit into community management and community development processes. In our experience, community-driven biodiversity-based agriculture, with women recognized as central actors, forms a solid basis for genuine food security and rural development, leading to less vulnerable families, and less vulnerable children.
