Our Work: By region Africa About this region Africa is a culturally and biologically diverse continent with immense natural resources. Since the liberation struggles that brought an end to colonialism, African civil society has been working to reclaim the political space necessary for communities to have control over their resources, and build the foundations to more just and peaceful societies. Our Work on this region In Africa, we work with national-level and Pan-African organizations to promote food sovereignty, peace-building, gender equality, and economic justice. We also work in Canada to build more understanding of the causes of impoverishment in Africa, and to influence trade, development and aid policies in support of African civil society’s efforts to build more just societies on the continent.
