Home Our Work: By issue Control Over Resources About this issue All over the world, people are living the consequences of unregulated extraction of minerals and other resources. With little benefit to local people, such extraction leaves farmland, water systems and forests destroyed. People whose land was taken face the loss of their livelihoods, homes and access to water, with little compensation and few alternatives. Our Work on this issue We work on mining, forestry and coastal resources to promote responsible regulation and community participation in resource management. We support people's efforts to defend their livelihoods, to document violations, and to develop the skills to engage with governments and foreign corporations. And we collaborate with others here in Canada to promote government and corporate accountability.
